Endangered Species of the Temperate Rainforest
Pudu
The pudu is the worlds smallest dear it is native to the South American Temperate Rainforest in Argentina and Chile. The climate in the habitat of the pudu is a short dry summer and a mild wet winter. This cute little guy is sadly listed as an endangered species by the international union for the conservation of the nature and national resources (ICUN). The Pudu prefers dense under brush and bamboo because it offers protection from predators. They can be found almost anywhere above 3,200 sea level.
Juan Fernandez Firecrown
The Juan Fernández Firecrown(Sephanoides fernandensis) is a hummingbird found today solely on Isla Róbinson Crusoe, one of a three-island archipelago belonging to Chile in the Temperate Rain forest. The FireCrown feeds on the Cuminia Eranthis. Sadly this little fellow is one of many endangered species in the Temperate Rain Forest. It is non-migratory and shares the island with its smaller relative the Green-backed Firecrown (S. sephaniodes), which seasonally migrates to the mainland.
The temperate Rain forest is now know for having high levels of precipitation and its is likely to stay the same in the future because if it didn't have high levels of precipitation then it wouldn't be known as a Temperate Rain forest. It's high level of precipitation allows deciduous trees to the live there and their leaves fall of in the winter.
